    This course provides an introduction to the biological aspects of dementia, brain regions affected in ADRD, normal cognition and brain changes with aging, and current and emerging therapeutic management of ADRD. Participants will learn about best practice approaches to a comprehensive diagnostic evaluation and the characteristics of different forms of dementia while introducing best practices for developing interdisciplinary teams who deliver effective person-centered treatment plans.

    This course provides advanced practice nursing professionals with the knowledge necessary to provide high-quality dementia care management. Participants will learn about the phases and treatment plans for dementia, customize living situations, identify comorbidities and provide perspectives on ethical issues, and maintain safety, function, and autonomy of persons with dementia, with a focus on behavioral treatment of complications, distinctions among populations, and strategies to sustain resiliency.
