
Module I: Medication Basics
This module introduces school health staff to essential medication principles and practices necessary to support students’ well-being during the school day. Through interactive blocks and accessible, self-paced learning, participants explore why medication administration is needed in schools, understand key laws and policies, and learn to differentiate between drug types, effects, and delivery methods. Learners also gain familiarity with medication names, emergency drugs, and influencing factors to ensure safe, timely, and effective administration in real-world school settings.

Through this course, participants will learn:
- Identify federal and local laws which justify the presence of trained AOM’s in the school setting.
- State the 6 reasons to give medication.
- Differentiate between the desired effects, side effects, and adverse effects of medication
- Identify the relationship between the formula of a medication and its route of administration.
